Leopard Coats: Winter 2016’s Biggest Trend

Leopard print is arguably one of my favorite patterns of all time. Officially defined as a “neutral,” leopard print is absolute perfection on shoes, handbags, belts, and for winter 2016…coats! The leopard coat makes a flawless debut just as the weather cools down and our fall style starts to slip into a rut of black sweaters and black pants…or maybe that’s just me. Don’t let gray skies and rain get you down, rock a leopard print trench coat, jacket, or bomber to revive your winter style.

I bought this leopard trench coat about 3 years ago from a thrift store in Montana. Being that it wasn’t quite suited for freezing weather and snow, it slowly migrated to the back of my closet. It wasn’t until a few days ago while I was shopping and saw leopard jackets left and right, that I thought, I have to buy a leopard coat! Then, I remembered I already had one…good job 21 year old me!

I love the versatility of leopard print because it can the focal point of an outfit or play a supporting role.  The same goes for jackets. You can let your animal print make a statement or play it down with a pair of sneakers and a giant scarf, like I did.

Similar to the style I’m wearing, a trench coat is ideal for a polished, chic look. The double breasted buttons and wrap around belt give that classic, old Hollywood look. Take note from Burberry whose leopard trench coat is already sold out – you can’t go wrong with this classic style!

You don’t have to be outdoors to enjoy this winter trend…grab a leopard bomber jacket. This style might be my next purchase. I love bomber jackets and some sassy spots might be just what I need. Layer underneath the bomber jacket during cold weather and pair with shorts in the summer!

Long Leopard Pea Coat

A long, wool pea coat is best option to keep warm during the winter season. This type of jacket can be styled so many ways – casually with jeans, classic with a skirt, or edgy with a black beanie. A leopard pea coat will instantly give you that fashionable,  it-girl look.
