Stitch Fix Review: All of Your Questions Answered!

As some of you know, I recently began a collaboration with Stitch Fix. Immediately, I was super excited because of my admiration for the brand and their ability to ship hand selected fashion straight to your door. Then I started wondering, how does Stitch Fix actually work? And a fashion blogger who thrives on choosing my own clothes, how could I let someone I didn’t know, pick out what I was going to wear? Well, 2 months and 2 “fixes” (shipments of clothing) later, I’m here to give you an honest Stitch Fix review and answer all your questions!

1. What is Stitch Fix?

Stitch Fix is an online styling service that delivers a personalized clothing, shoe, and accessory selection to your home. Each user fills out a Style Profile and a personal stylist will hand pick pieces to fit your fashion taste, what you need, and your budget. Each box contains five items for you to try on at home. Only purchase what you love and send the rest back in the prepaid envelope.

2. How does Stitch Fix know my style?

I trust few people to make my fashion decisions for me so, I was doubtful that Stitch Fix could understand my style. To be honest, sometimes even I have trouble understanding my style and making decisions…but Stitch Fix got my style spot on!

Stitch Fix has each user fill out a Style Profile, which is more detailed than I would’ve imagined – and it works in your favor. The Style Profile goes so in depth asking each user rate visual collections, indicate colors or patterns you don’t like, and even adding your Pinterest boards.

3. How does Stitch Fix choose what you get?

If you’ve ever been part of a subscription service, you know that half the stuff you receive ends up shoved in the back of your closet or buried in your makeup collection. I LOVE that Stitch Fix gives users the option to choose what type of pieces they want and how frequently they want it.

4. Can I trust the sizing? What if I’m petite or plus sized?

I am 5’ 3’’ and about 110 lbs so I definitely land on the petite side. Ordering clothing online means ordering multiple items and often sending everything back. Stitch Fix takes into account all your measurements and offers petite, plus size, and maternity options. I am really pleased to say that I received a pair of trousers and jeans that fit! That rarely happens.

5. Who can benefit most from using Stitch Fix?

For my Stitch Fix review, I wanted to point out who I felt has the most to gain from the fashion subscription service.

  1. If you live in a place without extensive shopping (hint: me growing up in Montana)
  2. If you have trouble styling outfits – let the stylists do it for you!
  3. If you struggle to find petite, plus size, or maternity clothing – Stitch Fix provides these options
  4. If you want a pleasant surprise ;) – Like the suede jacket and fitting jeans!

So here’s what I like most about Stitch Fix as a subscription service:

  1. You get to choose what types of items you want in your fix
  2. You get to assign a cost to each item
  3. There is no pressure to keep everything or to receive a box every month
