Our Engagement Story: A Pomeranian Proposal

Typically, I keep my relationship rather private. You won’t see Scott make an appearance on my blog or Instagram too frequently because we like some separation between our relationship and my somewhat open life as a blogger. However, when an ordinary Saturday in January took an unexpected, life-changing turn, I knew I had to share the story with you…the story of our engagement.

On January 26th my friend Becca came to Seattle for a writing conference. We began a typical Seattle Saturday with brunch at Thackeray. After brunch, Becca insisted on a walk through Gasworks Park

It was a gorgeous, sunny day so I had no objections. Coffee, sunshine, posting some Instagram stories, and maybe some dog sighting…sounded good to me!

We stumbled upon a Pomeranian meetup…and I LOVE poms!

Why? I used to have a Pomeranian named Suki who is pictured in the first photos I took for Hot Dress Hot Mess. And now, I love them and can’t wait to have one!

Becca had to tear me away from the dogs to come look at the view. When turning the corner, I was completely surprised to see Scott waiting by the water.

I said yes!

Scott arranged the Pomeranian meetup by messaging Seattle insta-famous Poms to come together to make the day extra special.

So naturally, all the Poms and their owners joined us to celebrate! We’re calling it a POM-POSAL!

Becca was never going to a writing workshop and was there for moral support of Scott and me

We drank champagne, pet Pomeranians, and soaked up our first moments as an engaged couple.

When I thought the day couldn’t get any better, we stopped for margaritas only for Scott to surprise me again with an engagement party of all our friends.

It was a day that I couldn’t have planned better myself and exceeded how I imagined getting engaged. My appreciation and love for Scott only grew stronger since we got engaged.  While we might not post about all our moments together on Instagram or the blog, we agreed that this moment was better shared.

Now go show some love and follow the Poms on Instagram :)
