Everyday Makeup + Fred Meyer

I’ve always loved drugstore makeup and beauty products. They are accessible, affordable, and oftentimes just as effective as designer cosmetics. So, I was pretty excited when Fred Meyer contacted me to create an entire makeup look with products from their store. Of course I said yes – yes to a beauty binge and yes to showing all the Hot Dress Hot Mess cadets that we can look amazing without giving up our shopping fund.

We will begin with a blank, makeup free face!

Step 1: Prime with Maybelline Blur and Illuminate primer. This product smooths the skin and has a touch of pink illuminator to make your skin look dewy and glowy beneath your makeup.

Step 2: Apply foundation with round sponge.  I don’t usually wear foundation, but lately my skin has been a little more red and splotchy. Staying along the lines of glowing skin, I chose L’Oreal True Match Lumi Makeup to keep that natural dewy look.

Step 3: Concealer. Every time I put on concealer, I say a little prayer and thank God for whoever invented this stuff. I always wear concealer under my eyes and go for a full coverage liquid! I’m using Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal and was very pleased by the coverage ability and skin tone match.Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal

Step 4: Touch up the brows: I’m obsessed with the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder! I purchased this probably 4 months ago and use it religiously. It comes in multiple shades based on your hair color. The white round container is a clear, light wax you can use on your brows to keep your brows perfect all day – it’s amazing!NYX Brow Powder

Step 5:  Apply Eye shadow. For my daytime look I stick to neutral eyeshadow tones with a blend of matte and shimmer options. I have a hard time finding drugstore eyeshadow I like because they often contain glitter rather than shimmer. The CoverGirl truNaked Eyeshadow pallete has a beautiful range of both matte and shimmer options. I’m really impressed and have continued to use this pallete  since my purchase.

I used the light, shimmery shades on the lid of my eye…CoverGirl truNaked Eyeshadow Nudes

and the darker matte shades to darken my crease and line the bottom of my lash line. As you know, the selfie mechanism on your phone is perfect for touch ups ;)

Step 6: Liquid Liner. The secret to liquid eyeliner – practice makes perfect. I used Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in black. The liner is like a tiny pen which makes application easy, especially for beginners.

Step 7: Curl Lashes and Mascara. Covergirl Lashblast Volume Blasting Mascara is hands down my favorite mascara. Drugstore, designer, I love this stuff! I love big lashes so I really load this mascara on in multiple coats.

Step 8: Bronze Baby! I’m really fair so I have trouble using bronzer without looking orange or stripey. I chose this Essense bronzer because it comes in a shade meant for extra fair skin – aka me.

Step 9: Highlight. After bronzing I used the lightest shimmer shades in the CoverGirl truNaked Eyeshadow palette to highlight my cheekbones.

Step 10:  Pucker up! I used Rimmel London Povocalips 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip color in “Make Your Move” to finish the look.

I’m so happy to have the opportunity to show you that feeling and looking beautiful doesn’t mean making a financial investment…it only requires a quick trip to Fred Meyer!
