A Navy New Year

Another new year has rolled in and left me questioning how 2014 went by so quickly. Yes, it’s cliché but the year really did fly by. 2014 was full of firsts and lasts: my last year of college, my last summer in Montana, and the last time I’ll live with my best friend Becca. However, 2014 greeted me with some amazing firsts like: my first job after college, my first adventure in the big city, and my first real taste of independence. As I face 2015, I’m aim to pursue my passions, embrace city life, and hopefully grab a great deal on a designer bag at Nordstrom. Maybe I’ll ring in 2016 with a Céline bag on my arm…maybe.

Most recently, I’ve navigated Seattle in my wide brim navy hat. This hat makes any outfit look chic and instantly disguises my hair when I can’t achieve that Victoria’s Secret blow out. The navy hue of this hat is perfect because it instantly matches any dark wash jeans.

These are my favorite high-waisted jeans by Just Black from Apricot Lane in Missoula, Montana. High waist jeans are perfect for my small frame because they instantly make my legs look so much longer. Paired with Calvin Klein nude heels and the focus stays on the illusion of longer legs.

I wanted to keep the top simple with a cream v-neck sweater. To tie the outfit together, I added a chiffon navy tone leopard scarf, which blew perfectly in the breeze!  I chose to keep my jewelry minimal, only adding a gemstone ring by Saressa Designs.

For this post, I worked with the talented Michelle Dorman from Michelle Dorman Photography. We shot in Georgetown for an “urban decay” look. I thoroughly enjoyed her company as she helped me create the essence of “Hot Dress Hot Mess.”
